Sally LaPointe NYFW S/S20 – Review
INSPIRED BY: The color orange, namely the bold, daring, and dominant characteristics associated with the popping hue. Designer Sally LaPointe likened the hue’s related attributes to those possessed by the powerful women she dresses, a message which resonated with the show attendees adorning the orange carpeted runway. Fans of the brand’s knack for mixing sumptuous knits with luxury silk slips and skirts were sure to be delighted with her latest bright collection.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Zendaya’s wardrobe for the late-night press circuit to promote her role in the 50th anniversary reprisal of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
WEAR IT TO: The grand opening of the latest Soho House in downtown L.A.’s Arts District, before heading to the seventh floor for cocktails under the stars while marveling at the house designer’s use of warm, citrusy hues (think orange, yellow, and white).
FIRST READ: The series of monochromatic looks in leather, chiffon, and silk stayed true to the brand’s signature aesthetic of creating wearable separates with timeless appeal. Adding a fashion moment to the mix were tie-dye suits and cashmere ponchos featuring asymmetrical hemlines, worn over sequin skirts and sheer pants. Among the series of daywear looks was a sweater with fuzzy shearling accents at the wrist, styled with fitted shorts, and another look featured a fitted blazer with shoulder cutouts.
BEST LOOK: A sheer wrap top with flowing cap detail, styled with high-waisted sequin tangerine trousers, worn with red and orange patent leather mules.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Oversized woolen dome hats, styled to sit below the eyeline, tailored pants cinched at the ankle with front straps, and trailing cap detail on tops and one-shouldered shawls.
