Sies Marjan F/W 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: The kaleidoscopic confusion of a lucid dream, Sander Lak delivered futuristic collection with a rich, elegant edge.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Zoe Saldana as Neytiri in the Avatar sequel, rocking up to hair and makeup on the set of Good Morning America in her best silk pajamas.
WEAR IT TO: A night of self-induced foggy memories over craft cocktails at Angel’s Share in the East Village.
FIRST READ: The slouchy, draped lineup featured ombre silks and oversized furs to create a distinct luxe feel, while tailored shirts and silk blazers in rich jewel tones gave the lineup an artist off-duty whimsical vibe.
BEST LOOK: A sleeveless green midi dress featuring a maroon overlay sheers with ruched detailing at the arm, styled with brown brogues.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Staged in Penn Plaza, guests were reminded of Sander Lak’s fierce attention-to-detail and the construction process, with models marching under a kaleidoscope of color beneath industrial spotlights. Taking the lineup into outer space was an iridescent trench, worn with an oversized tote bag.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “I think the tie-dye and ombre looks are poised for a comeback. I love how Lak uses color.”
COLOR WHEEL: Rust, silver, brown, grey, navy, cream, sunburnt orange, gold, navy, bottle green.
