Snow Xue Gao NYFW F/W19 – Review

INSPIRED BY: Chinese artist Sun Wen, whose paintings showed up reimagined on tailored separates with a distinct menswear vibe.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Lucy Liu on the red carpet at the Storefront for Art and Architecture’s annual spring benefit, ARTIFACT, at Federal Hall on Wall Street.
WEAR IT TO: Admire the cherry blossoms on a sunny spring day while wandering through the Brooklyn Botanical Garden in Prospect Park.
FIRST READ: Oversized double-breasted men’s blazers in plaid and floral patterns, paired with matching trousers and styled over dresses in clashing prints. Also key were sleeveless trench coats, leather clutches, and printed silk pieces that could work as either relaxed loungewear or an after-dark option.
BEST LOOK: A soft pink silk button-down shirt featuring a Wen-influenced artwork, cinched at the waist with a rope tie, styled with matching pants and a long-sleeve aqua top.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Demure flats featuring floral embellishments, floral brocade suiting, and deconstructed shirting with clever silk panels.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “I can’t believe the designer wasn’t able to be here for her own show due to the government shutdown.”
COLOR WHEEL:  Purple, brown, pink, white, maroon, aqua, green, purple, khaki, gray, navy, yellow, charcoal, blue, lilac.
