INSPIRED BY: The concept of Australia’s seemingly endless summer and dreams of the blistering hot sun on your back, the gentle burn of warm, white sand beneath your feet, endless crystal-clear blue skies, and an inflatable flamingo to float on while enjoying the latest Tim Winton page-turner.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Kate Bosworth as Anna Marie in Blue Crush, emerging from a beach shack with her rebellious sister at dawn, swapping sordid tales from the night before and gossiping about the adrenaline-charged surf scene before hitting the waves.
WEAR IT TO: The Memorial Day opening weekend party by the pool on the rooftop at Jimmy at The James New York, showing off your golden tan and boasting to your besties about your recent work trip Down Under.
FIRST READ: Camp Cove Swim, Duskii, Fella, and Pam Pam rounded out the suite of swimwear designers presenting at the multi-brand show, which featured looks ranging from J-Lo-inspired black one-pieces with daring cutouts, iridescent silk wrap skirts worn over V-neck geometrical print bathers with ruffle detailing, coverup dresses in animal patterns, and prints with a 90’s focus – think geometrics and Nickelodeon-meets-MTV neon squiggles. International model and actress, Ellie Gonsalvez, opened the show, which was relocated to Carriageworks last minute due to weather conditions.
BEST LOOK: A white, V-neck one piece with ruffle detailing, worn with pink acrylic circle sunglasses, hoop earrings, and canvas slides featuring a champagne bottle, styled with a bike carrying a basket of red petunias to complete the Parisian vibe.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Straw fedoras, beaded necklaces with tassels, gladiator flats, vintage-style shades, silk scarf wraps and turban headbands.
