INSPIRED BY: Titled, ‘Rude’, designers Maurice Terzini and Lucy Hinckfuss cited the rude girls and boys of New York City in 1973, and the punk rockers of the 70’s, as key influences behind their latest collection, which paid homage to the brand’s signature androgynous aesthetic via a series of skatepark-ready looks.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Patti Smith hosting punk mecca CBGB’s final hurrah on Oct.15, 2006, following a slew of shows from Blondie, Talking Heads, The Ramones, The Beatie Boys and Moby at the former Bowery staple.
WEAR IT TO: The NYC Migra Punk Fest at Brooklyn Bazaar in Greenpoint in late June to watch your favorite hardcore bands rock-out while flexing your political views.
FIRST READ: The design duo presented ten looks designed for mix-and-match with unisex appeal, introducing a tailoring element to structured blazers and shorts, with deconstructed skirts and button-up white shirts adding a grown-up element to the otherwise rock-and-roll lineup.
BEST LOOK: An oversized white hoody, featuring a black sash, teamed with matching shorts, a dark-green trench coat, taupe cowboy boots and red Chicago Bulls cap.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: The show’s titled painted across models’ knuckles, work-style Caterpillar men’s boots, 80’s-style nose rings, windswept hair to mimic the sea breeze outside, bucket sun hats and racing-car grid patterns on socks and baseball caps.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “If it wasn’t so early I’d be complaining about the presentation being inside instead of out there in the blistering sun – but then, we’re channeling our inner emo right now, aren’t we?”
