The Row NYFW S/S20 – Review
INSPIRED BY: Designers Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen’s ability to rejigger their suite of timeless classics each season with a shift of hemlines here, and a play on proportion there. Classic tailoring and the ability to effortlessly pair stylish separates without the need for big tricks or bells and whistles is what makes the brand a cult favorite.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Gwyneth Paltrow giving her opening remarks at the Goop Health Wellness Summit in San Francisco.
WEAR IT TO: Fly under the radar while bidding for an A-list client at a contemporary art evening auction at Sotheby’s New York.
FIRST READ: Simplicity and minimalism were key in the design duo’s latest collection, which featured several monochromatic looks – think sensible trousers, relaxed-fit shirting, and structured coats worn over long tops to create a layered look. Metal hardware in the form of zippers on jackets and pullovers added a modern edge to the otherwise classic collection.
BEST LOOK: An untucked white button-down shirt, worn under a tailored blazer coat, and styled with pencil pants folded-up at the ankle and mesh slip-on flats.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Flats with clear PVC uppers, worn throughout, crocodile-embossed leather coats, and a statement black dress with organza floral applique.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “Would it be impolite to ask their views on Lori Loughlin scandal?”
COLOR WHEEL: White, black, blue, camel, taupe, navy, sand, cream.
