Tibi F/W 2018 – Review

INSPIRED BY:  Building blocks, construction and architecture and the fresh-faced power players of the 90’s corporate world in New York City. Designer Amy Smilovic delivered an update on the stock-standard drab suit by flipping the switch – think a blazer spray painted with building code – the sort of getup Cindy Crawford might don while going makeup free at a meeting to nut out the details of her daughter’s brand ambassador gig with watch company Omega.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Olivia Palermo and husband Johannes Huebl catching a spot of sightseeing in between Paris Fashion Week Shows after renewing their vows by the Eiffel Tower.
WEAR IT TO: The ribbon-cutting ceremony of architect Zaha Hadid’s futuristic curved West Chelsea condo on W 28th Street, before heading to rooftop drinks celebrating a book launch at the Hotel Americano.
FIRST READ: Tibi schooled the incoming class of Goldman Sachs on how to dress for your interior cubicle, with ambitions of one day nabbing a C-suite corner office. Turtleneck worn over pencil midi skirts, jersey midi dresses with drawstring detailing, and pull-up leather pants gave corporate attire a downtown-friendly makeover. Also present were the brand’s signature Victorian-influenced Edwardian dresses in a sorbet palette, perfect for fall happy hour and the weekend beyond.
BEST LOOK: An apricot long-sleeved, high-neck jersey dress with sporty drawstrings at the waist, styled under an orange faux-fur coat and powder-blue heels.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Smart tailoring and plays on proportion rounded out the series of 90’s power broker looks, while asymmetrical v-neck knits and metallic leather skirts were more suited to your weekend wardrobe. Slouchy booties, perforated slip-on shoes and folded clutches rounded out the accessories mix, which included PVC riding boots and printed scarves.
