Tommy Hilfiger clearly had a hell of a time partying up a storm with the cool kids at Coachella this summer as evidenced by the designer’s collection for spring/summer 2015.
Mr Hilfiger shook off his ‘Hamptons-All-Year-Round’ aesthetic and took a page from the American festival music season in his latest offering, which had a rock star flavor mixed with the sort of look one might have worn to sunshine acid saturated Woodstock.
Grass carpet and hundreds of brightly colored gerbera daisies set the scene for the Beatles-inspired affair, which marked a stark departure from Hilfiger’s traditional iconic preppy style.
As the show kicked off, one could have been mistaken for thinking they were about to witness an impromptu show arranged by Alexa Chung and her friends during happy hour under the stars of the Colorado Desert.
Keeping with the rock and roll theme was the show’s opener – Georgia Jay Jagger, with Binx Walton, Imaan Hammam and Kenell Jenner featuring as some of the other big-name strutters at the show.
Decked out in a maroon striped cape and matching shorts with metallic Chelsea boots, Jagger channeled her inner Kate Moss and had show attendees imagining the hipster puddle jumping with her pals at Glastonbury.
Other festival-inspired pieces included sleeveless vest and trousers combos, hooded military jackets in beige with red and black accents and a vintage-looking star sweater teamed with patchwork denim pants in all shades of blue.
The authenticity of the collection was accentuated by hand-painted tattoos and colorful faux furs, while a sweater and dress covered in glittery skull and cross bone and star patterns kept the grungy vibe of the show in check.
Meanwhile, Kendall Jenner may be succeeding at Keeping Up With the Kardashians but she isn’t very adept at keeping her clothes on – the model nabbed the show’s most-Instagram award with a look that involved a pair of skimpy shorts and matching bralet, paired with a set of metallic star-pattern Chelsea kicks.
While you may not be adventurous enough to take the psychedelic trip to the desert sands of Coachella, Mr Hilfiger just provided an easy way to purchase the experience without leaving your living room.
