Tory Burch NYFW F/W19 – Review

INSPIRED BY: Experimental liberal arts school Black Mountain College in North Carolina, which attracted famous professors such as Willem de Kooning, Robert Rauschenberg, Anni Albers and Cy Twombly. Designer Tory Burch’s thinking was that she was attracted to its progressive mindset and democratic, communal structure, which translated through via her modern and polished lineup for fall.

WEAR IT TO: Explore the quad after orientation on day one of your liberal arts education at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
FIRST READ: Neck ruffles and printed knife pleats on skirts and maxi dresses, cashmere cardigans and mohair sweaters, and relaxed-fit bouclé jackets: think librarian-chic with a street-style edge.
BEST LOOK: A sheer maxi dress covered in a delicate floral print, featuring a contrasting slip with a diagonal strip pattern, styled with black leather knee-high boots and a matching chain-strap clutch.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: The brand’s iconic Lee Radziwill satchel reimagined in buttery suede and taupe with gold hardware, color-blocking on structured day satchels and snakeskin mini clutches with chain shoulder straps. Adding a playful touch were Burch’s classic T logo and father Buddy’s signature initials on college-style blazers, while cut-glass drop earrings upgrade daywear looks into after-dark territory.
