Tory Burch F/W 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: Staged at Bridge Market under the Queensboro Bridge, designer Burch cited choreographer Pina Bausch’s dance Nelken — which means “carnations” in English — as the influence behind her latest collection. Originally performed with hundreds of pink carnations scattered across the stage, the designer recreated the scene with the help of florist Miranda Brooks.Â
POP-CULTURE NOD: A young Jacqueline and Caroline Lee Bouvier escaping their 12-room duplex apartment at 740 Park Avenue to summer at the family estate, Lasata, in East Hampton.
WEAR IT TO:Â An intimate spring wedding at Elizabeth Street Garden in Little Italy.
FIRST READ: Athletic parkas, shearling coats and corduroy jackets were peppered among romantic, tiered dresses and colorful shirts with pussycat bow tie front detailing. Chunky knits and dresses featuring garden-inspired prints added to the lineup’s versatility and modern feel. Â
BEST LOOK:Â AÂ sheer cream lace dress featuring a ruffled hemline, styled with white boots and a gold pendent necklace.Â
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS:Â Leather cross-body bags in sea-foam green, maroon and tan catered to the urban explorer, while a range of pendant necklaces in silver and gold added a dressy vibe should your work day spill into happy hour.Â
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE:Â “I can’t believe so many A-listers were prepared to make the trek over here. It was worth it though – what a cracking day and show.”
COLOR WHEEL:Â Pink, cream, green, navy, mustard, blue, orange, tan, maroon, brown, yellow, red, blue.
