Tory Burch NYFW S/S19 – Review

INSPIRED BY: Designer Tory Burch’s well-traveled parents – namely the cruise trips they took each summer while Burch was young to Italy, Greece, Morocco and Spain. The collection was inspired by the wanderlusting jetsetter.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Ingrid Bergman as Ilsa Lund in Casablanca.
WEAR IT TO: An eight-day luxury yacht cruise down the Nile River from Luxor to Aswan.
FIRST READ: Burch delivered an array of polished yet wearable separates capable of being easily folded into a carryon to accompany you from one exotic city to the next. Think breathable caftans, knitted polos, classic trenches in neutral tones, feminine long-sleeve demure frocks and safari-style suiting.
BEST LOOK: A khaki button-down shirt with tortoiseshell buttons, styled with navy pants, black espadrilles, a matching striped bag, and a woven straw bucket hat.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: The show’s invites came with two vintage photographs of Burch’s parents, Buddy and Reva Robinson, the latter whom was in the audience. Accessories were key in this travel-inspired collection, including passport-ready boxy clutches with chain-link detail and some featuring an embroidered animal print, gold beaded bracelets with tassels, and canvas sneakers.
