Tory Burch NYFW S/S20 – Review

INSPIRED BY: Princess Diana and her legacy as a sartorial trailblazer. Designer Tory Burch set out to create her own interpretation of ‘80s power dressing with a ladylike edge, with an offering broad enough to appeal to her diverse fan base.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Emma Watson hunting for vintage boots at Notting Hill’s Portobello Market before grabbing a mimosa at nearby Electric House.
WEAR IT TO: Meet with your English professor before kicking off your masters degree at the University of Cambridge.
FIRST READ: Statement coats worn over summery dresses in a floral print, nautical-inspired stripes on tees and wrap dresses, and pussycat bows on tailored shirting, which added to the show’s polished vibe. Catering to evening were strapless bodycon dresses in a polka-dot print, and another with a multi-colored swirl effect, worn over a button-up shirt and a rope belt. The smart pairing of versatile separates played to the lineup’s ability to convert from day to night with ease.
BEST LOOK: A black-and-cream woven duster coat, styled over a blouse with rose detail and a matching midi skirt, teamed with mustard loafers and a baby blue bowling bag.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Suede clutch bags styled with vintage ‘80s prints, cut-glass drop earrings, sneakers worn with silk dresses with asymmetrical hemlines (perfect for looking chic while grocery shopping or grabbing cocktails in the East Village.)
