Tory Burch NYFW S/S22 – Review
INSPIRED BY: American sportswear icon Claire McCardell and her signature ladylike silhouettes of the 40’s and 50’s. Designer Tory Burch staged her show on the cobbled streets of Soho outside her new Mercer Street store, featuring stands from local restaurants and book stores lining the runway to the delight of attendees. Â
POP-CULTURE NOD: Diane Kruger on a yacht in between takes while filming thriller Out of the Blue in Newport, Rhode Island.Â
WEAR IT TO:Â Peruse the contemporary outdoor sculptures of the Storm King Art Center’s open-air museum in Upstate New York.Â
FIRST READ:Â Color blocking and geometric prints were key in the versatile collection, with A-line swishing skirts in plaid and asymmetrical stripes teamed with smart black skivvies and sleeveless blouses with ruched detail.Â
BEST LOOK: A tech-knit bandeau in red and blue, paired with menswear-style navy trousers, a short crossbody purse and a gold arm cuff.Â
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: 1950’s-inspired “Lampshade” leather bucket bags, cat-eye sunglasses in primary colors, envelope and hobo bags in suede and raffia, and pointed flats with ankle ties and stud detail.Â
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “It’s crazy how many of the retail stores are still empty down here.”
COLOR WHEEL:Â Yellow, green, tan, magenta, navy, white, pink, black, violet, khaki.Â
