Tracy Reese S/S 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: A celebration of the feminine spirit. Looks were previewed on models the designer cited as her inspiration – women of different backgrounds, varied experiences and multifaceted personalities.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Frieda Pinto rocking a red lip while enjoying drinks at a pop-up bar in the sun during the Cannes Film Festival.
WEAR IT TO: A “Charting Your Course at Any Stage of Your Career” event hosted by the New York Women in Communications at the B.B. King NewGen stage at Lucille’s on 42nd St.
FIRST READ: Floral print dresses, masculine blazers in candy hues and striped separates gave the show a Willy Wonka vibe, while structured separates made for an easy transition from boardroom to happy hour.
BEST LOOK: A brown trench with all-over leaf print in teal, worn with camel slides and cream shoulder-length statement earrings. Another standout was a bright magenta overcoat with a front tie, that made reference to a cozy bathrobe given a designer overhaul.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Models were encouraged to speak in their native tongues about the dreams and the varied experiences that had shaped them. Show attendees couldn’t stop gushing about the designer’s oversized earrings and the popping color palette.
SPOTTED IN THE FROW: Whoopi Goldberg, Natalie Zfat, Ferm Mallis, Skai Jackson.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “I need those earrings in my life – do you think they’ll be available earlier on Modi Operandi?”
COLOR WHEEL: Magenta, teal, taupe, sunshine yellow, red, dusty pink, slate, white, navy, brown.
