Vera Wang NYFW F/W19 – Review

INSPIRED BY: The strength of the female warriors of the Celtic tradition. Designer Vera Wang expanded her ready-to-wear offering via a series of grungy pieces fit for the modern punk rocker. Think The Craft-meets-the McQueen documentary.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Halsey grabbing brunch with her A-list pals in the East Village after an all-night following her performance on Saturday Night Live.
WEAR IT TO: Head backstage under the big top for a VIP glimpse of the set ahead of the debut performance of Cirque du Soleil’s LUZIA show by Citi Field.
FIRST READ: Plaid suiting with plays on volume and asymmetrical hemlines, a black floor-length cape styled over mini shorts and with knee-length tights, and gothic layered gowns in clashing prints combined to create an edgy collection with a Courtney Love-esque ‘90s aesthetic.
BEST LOOK: A gold-paillette slip dress, worn under a mink fur coat lined with silver sequins, styled with stacked black heels.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Looks were given a dose of hi-low glam by teaming dazzling separates with daywear fabrics, while an array of convertible pieces are sure to appeal to the brand’s younger street-style-savvy clientele.
COLOR WHEEL: Black, white, silver, gold, charcoal, cream, gray.
