VFILES S/S 2018 – Review

INSPIRED BY: Designers INXX, JunJie Yang, Christian Stone and Louis Pileggi served up an array of experimental looks that ranged from oversized ski jackets to deconstructed dresses with ruffle detailing and Americana motifs and fur coats with a flame print. Think the incoming class Parsons let loose in Mood Fabrics with an unlimited black Amex.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Michael Alig hosting one of his infamous fame-whore parties with fellow club kid James St. James and influential nightclub owner Peter Gatien at the Rumpus Room to celebrate being cleared from parole.
WEAR IT TO: The Blonds’ New York Fashion Week closer runway show after-party.
FIRST READ: Oversized hooded ski jackets worn over office-friendly plaid trousers, ruffled silk dresses, and patchwork denim rounded out the eclectic collections, which toyed a suite of masculine, sporty, futuristic and grungy hipster looks.
BEST LOOK: A lilac reversed hoody with elbow cutouts and a Chinese script print, paired with lilac sneakers and matching choker.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Guests were seated on yellow chairs and cheeky snippets about VFile’s official description were projected onto the walls of the Barclays Center’s freight loading dock, while a Lamborghini sat in the middle of the room in the same flashy hue.
SPOTTED IN THE FROW: Tinashe, Young Paris, Chris Lavish, Joel Madden, Anastasia, Karanikolaou, Dapper Dan, Yung Lean.
