Zero + Maria Cornejo NYFW F/W19 – Review
INSPIRED BY:Â Dance and the idea of movement heightening the senses. Designer Maria Cornejo cited director Wim Wenders’ tribute to choreographer Pina Bausch and her celebrated dance troupe as key behind her latest collection, which included an array of edgy pieces with a bohemian rock-chick vibe.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Christy Turlington grabbing a late-night cocktail at The Waverly Inn in the West Village after returning to the runway for the first time in two decades by closing Marc Jacobs’ show.
WEAR IT TO:Â Pitch your interior design ideas to a potential client on a chilly February afternoon at Cookshop in Chelsea.
FIRST READ:Â Tailored suiting in the form of a shirt dress with a front slit, worn over wide-leg pants; leather moto jackets and silk separates capable of being dressed up or down with the addition of a necklace and a pair of strappy heels. Also key were a series of separates featuring an abstract floral print, shown over wool-knit turtleneck skivvies and as standalone pieces with the exception of a fur stole.
BEST LOOK:Â A shearling brown coat, worn over a velvet sand-colored dress with ruching at the neckline, styled with dusty pink boots with a chunky heel.
COLOR WHEEL:Â Black, chartreuse, navy, purple, blush, yellow, brown, pink, sand.
